  • 6 tablespoons whole milk
  • 5 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 4 cups confectioners sugar
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup pecans (chopped)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 10×15 inch baking pan.
  2. In a saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Stir in water and cocoa powder; bring to a boil, then remove from heat.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together the sour cream and eggs until blended.
  4. In a stand mixer bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the sour cream mixture while mixing on low speed.
  5. Once cooled slightly, add the chocolate mixture to the batter and mix thoroughly.
  6. Pour into the prepared pan and bake for 22-25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. For the frosting, boil milk, cocoa powder, and butter; remove from heat and stir in confectioners sugar and vanilla extract before folding in pecans.
